Nature in Linz

Validity: January 15th to December 13th 2024

How much nature does a big city like Linz have to offer? An exciting search for traces deepens the pupils’ botanical-zoological knowledge.

Program:

Day 1:

The botanical garden with its flowers is worth a tour in every season. The nostalgic Pöstlingbergbahn railway then takes the pupils to the Pöstlingberg, the symbol of the city of Linz. It is the starting point for a visit to the zoo or the fairytale world of the grotto railway.

Day 2:

You will go on a hiking tour through the meadows of the rivers Traun and Danube and you will find real wilderness. A third of all plant species from Greater Linz and many endangered animal species like the beaver, the kingfisher and rare frog species live in those floodplains. Back to civilisation you will attend the highlight tour in the Ars Electronica Center – the Museum of the future.

Day 3:

You will visit the Schlossmuseum and have a tour through the exhibition “Nature in Upper Austria”. You will find out that most of Upper Austria was once covered with water and you will see the strange animals that lived here in ancient times.
